Premium Craft Crank Clay is a coarse, open-textured clay body formulated with specially graded grogs to provide strength, stability and excellent working properties. Designed for larger ceramic projects, it is particularly well suited to hand-building, slab construction, tile making and sculptural work where warp resistance is important.
The grogged composition helps improve structural integrity during drying and firing, making it easier to create larger forms with reduced risk of distortion. Its textured character also makes it popular for expressive ceramic work where surface quality is an important part of the finished piece.
Suitable for both earthenware and stoneware applications, the clay can be fired between 1170°C and 1300°C, offering flexibility across a range of ceramic techniques and outcomes.
Supplied in a 12.5kg bag, it is ideal for schools, colleges and studios undertaking larger hand-built ceramic projects.
Please note: while this clay can be fired to stoneware temperatures, not all clay bodies are fully impervious to water. For vessels intended to hold liquids or withstand outdoor conditions, a suitable glaze should be applied and fired correctly to help reduce water absorption and improve durability.
